Overview
School ERP is our flagship product — a web-based school management system used by 3 schools in India with real teachers, parents, and students as users. Interns work alongside senior engineers on a live production codebase, shipping features that go live within days of being merged.
The Challenge
Managing a large, multi-tenant production codebase with 3 active schools while onboarding new interns every batch. Every bug report is real. Every feature request comes from actual school administrators. The stakes are real.
What We Built
- Attendance management system for teachers and students
- Grades and report card module with PDF export
- Parent-teacher communication portal with messaging
- Leave management system with approval workflows
- Fee payment tracking dashboard for administrators
- Mobile app (Flutter) for parents to track their child's progress
Intern Contributions
Frontend Interns (4)
Built React components, integrated REST APIs, wrote unit tests with Jest
Backend Interns (2)
Created Node.js API endpoints, wrote PostgreSQL queries, handled data validation
QA Engineers (3)
Performed end-to-end testing using Postman, wrote test cases in Jira, led regression cycles
Outcome
The system has been in production for over a year with zero major outages. Interns contributed 78 merged PRs across this project. 35 bugs were caught in QA before reaching production. This project has become the best resume piece for every intern who worked on it.
