Overview
PeriodTracker is a real-world Flutter application that helps users track their health cycles with smart predictions and reminders. The app was scoped, designed, and shipped entirely by the X-perience Technologies intern team — from initial Firebase setup to App Store-ready release builds.
The Challenge
The main challenge was building a reliable mobile app with real user data and privacy considerations, using cloud sync across devices, while managing a team of 6 interns with varying Flutter experience levels.
What We Built
- Full user authentication flow with Firebase Auth (email + Google OAuth)
- Real-time Firestore database with offline support
- Intelligent cycle prediction engine using historical data
- Push notification system for reminders and health insights
- Complete manual test suite covering 47 critical user journeys
- Automated widget tests with Flutter's testing framework
Intern Contributions
Flutter Developers (3)
Built UI screens, integrated Firebase APIs, wrote widget tests
QA Engineers (2)
Wrote 47 manual test cases, performed regression testing, logged and triaged bugs
DevOps Intern (1)
Set up CI/CD pipeline using GitHub Actions for automated testing and build deployment
Outcome
The app is live and actively used. The QA interns caught 18 critical bugs before production, including a data sync issue that would have caused data loss for users. One intern from this project was hired full-time as a QA engineer at a startup within weeks of completing the program.
